HendrickCars.com to sponsor Brittany Force’s Top Fuel dragster starting at this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte

This event kicks off a four-race partnership with John Force Racing

CONCORD, NC – Two of the most iconic and successful names in motorsports have united for the first time. HendrickCars.com, the online brand for NASCAR Hall of Famer Rick Hendrick’s automotive retail enterprise, and John Force Racing have teamed up on a four-race, primary sponsorship of Brittany Force and her Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster.

HendrickCars.com will also serve as an associate sponsor on the Funny Car entries of team patriarch and owner John Force, and current NHRA points leader, Austin Prock. The partnership begins this weekend at the 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte and extends to the events at Virginia Motorsports Park (June 21-23), Charlotte (Sept. 20-22) and the Texas Motorplex (Oct. 10-13), the latter two being part of the NHRA’s “Countdown to the Championship.”

“I’m honored to have HendrickCars.com as a partner and be the first to bring them to the Top Fuel category in NHRA,” said Brittany Force, a two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion. ”Charlotte is home to Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports, so to debut the car here is pretty cool.” Continue reading

DANIEL WILKERSON AND SCAG FORD FUNNY CAR TEAM LOOKING TO TURN THINGS AROUND AT CHARLOTTE FOUR-WIDE

CONCORD, NC – Daniel Wilkerson and his SCAG Power Equipment Ford Mustang Funny Car team are looking to make a jump in the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series points standings with a strong performance at this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway.

Wilkerson and the SCAG team, led by Daniel’s father and veteran racer, Tim, have qualified in the top half of the field for three consecutive races including their best effort of sixth at the most recent Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas. Despite their qualifying efforts, race day win lights have been scarce. The SCAG Funny Car has one quarterfinal finish and is coming off a first quad loss at Las Vegas.

“I think we’re all anxious to get back to the race track. We did not leave The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway the way we wanted to. That first round loss, it’s not a reflection of how hard this SCAG Ford Mustang team is working and the progress we’ve made. I’ll be looking forward to a bit of redemption this weekend,” Wilkerson said. “It’s another four-wide, the last one of the season, so we’ll want to leave our mark. We have a finish line photo hanging up in our shop of my dad in the Charlotte finals about five years ago. He is about a car and half in front of the other three guys, we have used that for motivation all week.” Continue reading

Dustin Smiley Races to Advanced Product Design $15,000 Wednesday Win at the Spring Fling

Benson, NC — Advanced Product Design $15,000 Wednesday at the Strange Engineering Spring Fling presented by Optima Batteries at GALOT Motorsports Park saw 428 entries make the call for the first round, a record-high for a $15K GALOT Fling Warm-Up race. The morning fired off with a time run session for all on property before rolling into eliminations.

The eight-car ladder was made up of half door cars and half dragsters including Thomas Davis, Cam Whisnant, James Norrod, Jon Corbin, Jeff Taylor, Donny Burleson, Russ Adams, and Dustin Smiley. Burleson let go .000 and ran .019 above for the win over Norrod, while Adams had the lesser of the two redlights against Whisnant to move on. Smiley was .006 and took .005 to knock out Davis, while Corbin put his ‘68 Firebird dead-on zero to eliminate Taylor.

The semifinals would guarantee a door car versus dragster final as two door cars and two dragsters came head to head with each other. Separated by just six-thousandths on the tree, Adams crossed the stripe by .001 to break out two thousandths while Burleson put it dead-on five to compete in his third career Fling final round. Smiley laid down .007 total in his full body Grand Prix to earn himself a spot alongside Burleson. Continue reading

JUSTIN ASHLEY AND SCAG TOYOTA TEAM LOOK TO CONTINUE PROMISING START TO NHRA SEASON AT ZMAX DRAGWAY

CONCORD, NC – Justin Ashley and the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel dragster team enter this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway with the points lead after a strong start to the 2024 Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series season.

Ashely and his SCAG Racing team have reached three consecutive final rounds. They first won the rain delayed NHRA Winternationals before reaching the finals of the Arizona Nationals in the same weekend and most recently raced to the final quad of the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals where he outran Steve Torrence and Tony Stewart for a runner-up finish to Doug Kalitta.

“We’ve turned on a lot of win lights through the first four races of the year. The team at Metalcraft of Mayville and SCAG Power Equipment have given us all the resources we need to be successful on and off the racetrack,” Ashley said. “Mike Green, Tommy DeLago, Dustin Davis, and the team have done an incredible job as they always do. But we all know it’s a long season and there’s more time to learn, grow and be the best versions of ourselves that we can be.” Continue reading

FOSTER LOOKING TO TAKE AQUA PROP ALL THE WAY AT CHARLOTTE FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

OWASSO, OK – Through the first four races of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Foster has shown that his driving skill combined with his Aqua Prop Chevrolet Camaro powered by KB Titan Racing will be a serious contender all season. Heading into the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals this weekend Foster has shown that the unique format does not intimidate the business owner from Oklahoma.

Two weeks ago, Foster won his first two rounds of four-wide racing and competed in the final quad with some of the most veteran drivers on tour at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend Foster and his Aqua Prop Camaro will be looking for one more win light at zMAX Dragway.

“The Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals was a wild experience,” said Foster, who is current No. 5 in the Pro Stock point standings. “That was only my fourth Pro Stock race and there was a lot going on. I think the fact that I am new and learning every race played to my advantage because honestly, I didn’t have to unlearn a routine. I am really feeling more and more comfortable with every run this season. I feel very confident coming in Charlotte.” Continue reading

MATT SMITH LOOKS FOR HOMETOWN WIN AT ZMAX DRAGWAY, DERIC KRAMER AIMS TO REPEAT HIS 2023 4-WIDE NATIONALS WIN

CONCORD, NC – After a six-week hiatus from the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule, the competitive Pro Stock Motorcycle class returns to action at this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway. Atop the list of riders ready to hit the track is six-time champion Matt Smith.

FERNANDO CUADRA SR. TO HAVE LAST DANCE WITH PRO STOCK AT CHARLOTTE FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

CONCORD, NC – For the first time this season and for the last time in their careers, the Cuadra family made up of Fernando Cuadra Sr. and his sons Fernando Jr. and twins Cristian and David, will all be competing together in the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series Pro Stock category.

When Elite Motorsports hits zMAX Dragway for this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, it will be the last time that family patriarch Fernando Sr., will make passes down a drag strip in a Pro Stock car.

Picking this weekend to make his first appearance on the NHRA tour and his last in a professional category, is no random decision. Fernando Sr. will be celebrating his 65th birthday on Friday, April 26th while the twins will be celebrating their 25th. Even more significant, his 65th birthday weekend not only marks Fernando Sr.’s retirement from driving a Pro Stock car but from running his family conglomerate of leather-goods companies, including Corral Boots, Cuadra and Colombia Impex, brands that have become synonymous with the Cuadra Boys in the NHRA Drag Racing scene. HULL READY TO CELEBRATE PROFESSIONAL ANNIVERSARY IN CHARLOTTE

LONG BEACH, CA – This weekend, nitro Funny Car driver Buddy Hull has a lot to celebrate at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, NC. This race marks the four-year anniversary of his professional debut in the NHRA, so it holds some extra sentimentality and additional motivation to set new personal bests and win rounds.

“Few things get me as fired up as coming back to Charlotte,” said Hull. “The first three years of my career were racing with my Vertex Roofers and General Contractors Top Fuel dragster. I am extremely proud of that period in my career, and how it led to even bigger and better things, transitioning to racing Funny Car with Jim Dunn Racing. I am pumped to be coming back to this race, for the first time as a Funny Car driver, to show everyone how far I have come over the last four years.”

Though Hull had a challenging experience at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas, he is confident that he and the Jim Dunn Racing team will improve significantly during the second four-wide race of the season. Continue reading
